Trump Voters: Please Speak Out to Stop the Violence
I have publicly condemned election-related/hate crime violence on both sides.  But it’s important to note that there are already more than 700 documented instances of right-on-minority or right-on-female violence and a far smaller number of left-on-Trump-voter incidents.
I do not condone the violence on either side. But I’m sorry, when you have just elected a president who has given license to bullies and attackers for months, it is time for Trump voters also to say “this is not OK.”
And if DT is really going to take his own “president for all Americans” election-night rhetoric seriously, he needs to issue a far stronger and more convincing demand to stop that behavior than the wimpy few words he reluctantly issued after a CBS reporter asked him directly to rebuke the attackers. And those who voted for DT for reasons that have nothing to do with the subjugation of women, people of color, and non-Christians need to speak out loudly and publicly. Hate crimes of any kind are not OK—and the Right as well as the Left both need to say so.
Trump voters who refuse to speak out and call for cessation of the violence are proving Hillary’s “deplorables” comment. The way to prove her wrong (and I think she is) is to speak out loudly that you, as a Trump voter, will not tolerate violence and threats against racial/religious/sexual minorities and women. That we as a country are better than this. That we can disagree and still be a democracy.
I am putting a safety pin on my coat as a sign that I am someone willing to intervene if I am a witness to a hate crime. I’ve been trained in nonviolence and conflict de-escalation (though it was long ago). If you’ve had some training, think about joining that movement. And if you haven’t, find a way to get that training. Google “nonviolence training” with your city’s or state’s name. And if DT actually implements his proposed Muslim registry, I will be part of a movement to flood that database with non-Muslim registrants so it becomes useless. These are personal risks I am willing to take. We have seen too many times what happens when good people do nothing while others perpetuate evil in their name.
I understand if those actions might be more than you’re willing to do; here’s one that’s totally safe: Sign this petition. Please note in the comments section of THIS that you’ve signed, or better yet, share your own personal letter that you’ve written to Trump.

Johnny Mieckowski Jr.: most of us understand that Trump supporters are not a bunch of clones motivated by racist, xenophobic, or misogynistic hatred. So, because these supporters are NOT all these things, we naturally expect them to call out those in their midst painting swastika’s, holding hooded rallies, grabbing pussies, and calling Mrs Obama an ape, etc. That would be an excellent way to help those who are frightened be less so. Also, you said you don’t condemn the violence. I presume you mean the opposite of this, that you don’t condone the violence.
Lol, yes. I mistyped that one. I am not a violent person. And I don’t agree with any of it, from both sides. Not that all the racist stuff we are reading about is from the Trump side. I know plenty of Hilary supporters who have said much worse than our new President.
Racist stuff from Clinton supporters? I suppose anything could happen. But why would any racist worth his salt support Clinton when he hasTrump quoting Mussolini, calling for a ban Muslims, tweeting memes from White Supremacist websites, and receiving the blessings of David Duke and a scheduled parade on the part of the KKK? Trump baited racists, and now they’re thrilled. He also baited their apologists. Clinton did none of these things. This is not to say that she, nor her supporters are incapable of harboring racist assumptions.
Johnny Mieczkowski Jr. You might want to go in and edit those few letters.
Bill Winslow, don’t forget about him appointing white supremacists to his cabinet.
Get off of Donald J. Trump on this issue go after the person still in charge and the person who lost . It is insane to think the person they are violently opposing can calm this down Who does that make sense to
I don’t know of a single instance of Hillary or Obama inciting violence against right-wingers. There are people on the left who have, and if you read my last two blog posts, you see that I condemn that behavior.
Trump vomitting in English: “knockthecrapoutofthemiwilldefendyouincourtmysupportersareverypassionateyougottatreatwomenlikeshit.”

Please remember, Hillary said that some of Trump’s supporters were a basket of deplorables but that the concerns of others needed to be addressed. I get a little sensitive when she catches flak for that remark, partly because it’s taken out of context, and interpreted as an insult to all Trump voters (it was the opposite) and partly because Trump could get away with saying so much worse while she can hardly breathe without being vilified.
Yes, thank you!
I don’t condemn the violence, but unfortunately all the people doing the actual violence from what I see are the ones who are saying they are afraid of what might happen. As far as the ones doing the road blocks, getting hit by cars, then not being able to have paramedics come to their rescue, that my friend is karma. The same that happens all the time people do human roadblocks. Stop the hate. Stop assuming everyone who supported trump for president is a racist, sexist bigot. Then maybe we can move forward.
Thanks, Johnny Mieczkowski Jr. I hope the post made it very clear that *I* don’t think most of his supporters voted for him out of racism. They voted for economic reasons and I predict they will be very sorry once they see that he has only the interests of his own economic class in mind, and that things will get much worse for the working class. However, that the racism/misogyny/general bullying was not a deal breaker is worrisome to me. I (like almost every Jew in America) had family in Europe during the Holocaust.
Will you retract if you are wrong?
Shel Horowitz I voted for him because I truly didn’t believe I could consciously vote for Hilary whom I see as a criminal. Who I feel put so many people at risk. The race card has been fueled so much greater by Obama and his coddling of the BLM movement, whom so many like myself see as only a hate group promoting one race and when someone such as the president of Smith College states that “all lives matter”, they are called racist. Racism and the such won’t stop until we all put give up on this “we are owed something” rant.
Johnny Mieczkowski Jr. Con man who pays no architects, piano salesmen, carpenters, Polish workers, worker’s childcare, contractors, and scam University students is NOT a criminal? Are you kidding? His foundation is a joke which bought giant portraits of himself and rooms at his hotels, his “charity” donations are free rounds of golf at his course, and he said he “never settles”lawsuits yet has settled 297!
Marcia Miller has anyone died due to his actions? We can debate this for eternity. It’s my vote, I can chose who gets it. That’s the greatest thing, just as your vote is yours.
Who died due to Hillary? And it’s my right to block you if I choose.
lol, block away. You are the one who engaged me. If you don’t want to be an adult, my feelings wont be hurt and I wont need counseling or to protest yoru decision. My life will go on just as it has been.
GOP’s Bush killed tens of thousands.
You wee spewing lies.
Thank you, Shel!
