Van Jones Resigns. Glenn Beck, You've Done the Country a Disservice
I may get smeared for this as Van Jones was, but let me say that I find it disgraceful that Van Jones was the target of a smear campaign and was forced out as Obama’s Green jobs person. He was one of the few genuine progressive voices in a sea of “moderate-centrists” who would have been considered quite far to the right a few decades back.
What were Jones’ “crimes”?
* He called for an investigation into possible government foreknowledge about 9/11. It’s pretty clear that elements within the U.S. government had advance knowledge that something was brewing (even George W. Bush was briefed on this the month before the attack, as Condoleezza Rice admitted in her May 19, 2004 testimony in front of the 9/11 investigation commission), and many respected scholars such as David Ray Griffin have widely circulated hypotheses of U.S. government involvement. My own view is that the U.S. saw the attack coming and decided for its own purposes to let the attack occur (our Reichstag fire, if you will)–but were not directly involved. Why is it unreasonable to ask for an investigation?
* He used an unfortunate metaphor to describe his radicalization in the aftermath of the acquittal verdict in the Rodney King beating case:
By August, I was a Communist,” he says in the article, describing his sense of radicalization at the time.
* He said that Republican strong-arm legislators who managed to force through legislation even when short of a super-majority in the Senate were “assholes.” How is this any worse than commentator Glenn Beck, who led the charge against Jones, calling Obama a racist, or
George W. Bush, when he was Governor of Texas, threatening a legislator with “I’m going to kick your butt if you don’t go along with me.”. And if you listen to it in context, the subtext was that Democrats are too gentlemanly to play this kind of hardball, and that’s why they can’t get their agenda enacted. This, unfortunately, is patently obvious to observers of the current political scene.
Glenn Beck, this is the latest in a long line of despicable things you’ve done. You may feel smug now, but you’re the one whose conscience will bother you–not Van Jones.
Van Jones was never in a proper place to begin with! You fail to see that he was at the Whitehouse advising the most powerful man in the world.
I was in the military over 20 years, there are places, such as rooms, compounds, certain areas I was not allowed into due to my lower level of security clearance. This guy was a communist. He should never everbeen allowed near the president. Now none of his czars will be vetted as they are in fear that there is more of them communists advising the whitehouse. We already know there are tax cheats and criminals on his staff.
Glenn Beck did this country a great service. I wish he would expose more of those fools. Let’s see:
Cass Sunstein, John Holdren, Kevin Jennings the new school safe czar?
I really would like to see them all go and see Valerie Jarrett along with them.
BTW I am trying to get this letter out. Can you help me. I hope to get to all the congress and senators this week. PLEASE COPY AND PASTE THIS AND E-MAIL IT TO YOUR REP’s.
Your Honor,
In reference to the failed bid of the current administration of having the 2016 Olympics in their hometown, I believe there is little doubt that it was an obvious attempt of the abuse of office and offices of the President of the United States at taxpayer’s expense.
How many staffers can you count in the following You-Tube video that is walking in file for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announcement? I counted 68 conservatively!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBhQz1_gx98
If you insist and after completion of your counting the people walking behind the first lady and the president, please think of the others that are not seen in the video, such as protection detail and logistics personnel.
We would like to know, how many full time or part time staffers were recruiting for the 2016 Olympic event at federal level at again the taxpayer’s expense before the trip to Denmark?
We demand a GAO audit and a Freedom of Information Act Request of the tally/cost of the entire trip. Beginning from the Whitehouse and staff offices too Copenhagen, Denmark and the return trip. We would like answers as were staffers on the clock and did they collect a per diem, cost of fuel, support transportation and equipment, separate aircrafts, meals provided, expenses at hotels, official phone calls, etc, etc. EVERYTHING!
We politely ask and want congressional hearings ASAP.
These public officials whom represent this great country must be held accountable. This is NOT a witch-hunt. This is being responsible and accountable towards the hard working American tax-payers.
Your assistance and action would be greatly appreciated and dually noted. My family, friends and I will be contacting other senators, congress representatives, Political Action Committees and many news media outlets and await to receive the explanations of the entire cost and receive the justice we deserve if any infractions incurred during this disgraceful expose of abuse of power and privilege.
May GOD BLESS YOU and GOD BLESS AMERICA
Sincerely,
(Your Name)
I will approve your comment, but I disagree with your entire point of view. No, I’m not going to forward your screed, sorry. And if you want to look at waste of taxpayer money, how about GWB’s utter debacle in Iraq, and its huge cost not only in resources but in human lives–based on a pack of lies and greed. An official to Denmark to lobby for the Olympics doesn’t begin to compare.

I loved Arianna Huffington’s response to the firing: that Beck had done the nation a favor by letting Jones have a bigger platform again, where he wasn’t stifled by the need to support slow-moving and stultifying government processes.
