I’m Ready for Book Expo—Are You?

Tomorrow through Thursday, for the 16th time, I’ll be attending (and for the 15th time, writing about) Book Expo America, the largest book-industry trade show in the US. This year might be the first time I’m not attending a pre-event publishing conference (I’m attending a blogging conference instead)—in part because Independent Book Publishers Association, for the first time since I started attending, is not doing their University (they did it in the winter, in San Francisco). They are still doing the Ben Franklin Awards, at least—so I’ll get to see a lot of my friends.

I’ve found this event tremendously useful over the years, even got a book contract in negotiations that started on the show floor. It’s the best way I know to take the pulse of the book world, and a terrific place to network.
